In Powerful Launch Video, Dr. Kristin Lyerly Highlights Record of Standing Up for Reproductive Rights in Wisconsin
After successfully overturning Wisconsin’s 1849 abortion ban, Dr. Lyerly is running for Congress in WI-08 to protect fundamental freedoms for all Americans
(De Pere, WI) ― Dr. Kristin Lyerly, a practicing OB-GYN physician running for Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District, released a powerful launch video (link here) today showcasing her record in the fight for women’s reproductive rights, and highlighting what’s at stake in the upcoming election. Following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Dr. Lyerly began driving 7 hours to deliver babies and take care of women in rural Minnesota.
After Wisconsin’s draconian 1849 criminal abortion ban went into effect, Dr. Lyerly led the fight to restore women’s reproductive freedoms in Wisconsin, and vowed to take the fight to Washington. Speaking out against political interference in difficult medical decisions, she said, “How sick does my patient have to get before we can save her?”
“Providing the freedom for all women to make their own personal healthcare decisions is foundational to my campaign,” Dr. Lyerly said. “I’ve been defying the odds my entire life: as a first-generation college student, as a young mother going through medical school, and now as a champion for women’s reproductive rights. I’m a fighter, and that fight for our families and communities must continue all the way to the halls of Congress.”
