Hi Friends!
Happy Labor Day! Welcome back to another Movement Monday, our weekly update email sharing the important work Dr. Lyerly is doing for the people of northeast Wisconsin.
As a 6th-generation Wisconsinite who was born and raised in the district, Kristin understands that there’s more that unites us than divides us. She’s a mom of four sons who is committed to building a brighter tomorrow for future generations, creating an economy that works for everyone, and ensuring that we all have the freedom to make our own personal healthcare decisions.
Here’s the “good trouble” that Dr. Lyerly and her campaign were up to to last week:
UpNorthNews on CivicMedia
Dr. Lyerly joined Pat Kreitlow and company to discuss the enthusiasm voters around the country are feeling and shared her advice as a physician regarding how to safely navigate the summer heat (hint: drink plenty of water and don’t overdo it!).
Lowering Costs for Hard Working Families
Dr. Lyerly moderated a panel featuring Senator Elizabeth Warren and powerful healthcare and union advocates at the Labor Temple in Green Bay. The focus: creating an economy that works for ALL of us, not just the wealthy.
University of Wisconsin School of Medicine…AND Public Health!
Dr. Lyerly reunited with professors, mentors, and colleagues in Madison to celebrate the strides we have made as the first medical school in the country to officially incorporate “public health” into our name, embracing the “Wisconsin Idea” and acknowledging that a strong public health infrastructure benefits every single one of us.
Back to school
As the mom of four boys, back to school is always a busy time. Abraham, Kristin’s oldest son and a public school music teacher, has his new classroom in southeastern Wisconsin ready to go, while Julian is preparing for a teaching adventure in Japan. Lindsey is settling in for his freshman year at UW-Stevens Point, and James has hit the ground running as a sophomore at De Pere High School. Kristin and the crew even found time to attend the De Pere football game on Friday – the Redbirds gave the highly ranked Notre Dame Tritons a run for their money!
Calumet + Shawano County Fairs
Dr. Lyerly wrapped up county fair season with trips to the western AND eastern regions of the district. Friends in Shawano were eager to talk about public safety and healthcare, and she had great conversations in Chilton about supporting families and young people. Kristin was inspired by the number of independent voters who offered to share their perspectives and seek out the conversations that so many of us are craving.
Saturday Farmer’s Market in Green Bay
Produce is at its peak this time of year, and there’s no better place to pick up some locally produced food than this 108 year old Downtown Green Bay tradition. Dr. Lyerly took a spin on her bike down to the market, talking with vendors and shoppers and appreciating the beautiful northeast Wisconsin morning.
What’s On Tap This Week?
Today, Dr. Lyerly and team are off to the Labor Day Picnic at Bay Beach! Also keep your eye out for our Project 2025 town hall with Rep. Mark Pocan, the Door County Century, and Brazil (I’m not going but, like you, I will be watching!).
